The working principle of the infrared thermal imager is simply detecting the infrared radiation emitted by the object itself and forms a video pattern of the temperature distribution on the surface of the object. The higher the temperature of the object is, the greater the infrared radiation energy is. The thermal imager obtains the temperature distribution of the object surface through the received infrared energy.


What are the main applications of infrared thermal imagers? What advantages do they have?


According to our understanding, fever is the first major symptom of the COVID-19 epidemic at the end of 2019, which makes the supply of all kinds of temperature measuring equipment on the market falls short of demand. General household mercury thermometer, electronic thermometer, forehead thermometer, ear thermometer, etc., are not suitable for places with large and dense flows of people, such as stations, airports, office buildings, shopping malls, supermarkets, etc.. These places listed above need devices that can test people in batches and do not require people to stop for the test. In this situation, the advantages of such equipment as infrared thermal imagers are very obvious:


Firstly, in terms of the speed of detection, the thermal camera for human temperature measurement can achieve non-contact detection, what does it mean? It means that the tested person does not need to contact the equipment or the testing personnel at all, and the body temperature of the tested person can be measured accurately within a reasonable range of the equipment, and the temperature of the tested person will be displayed on the background screen. The detection response speed of the infrared thermal imager can reach the millisecond level, and it can detect one or more individuals with abnormal body temperature in the monitoring range within one second. If we use an ordinary forehead thermometer, we need at least 3-5 seconds to detect a person, and the detector and the person under test also need close contact, which increases the risk of cross-infection.


Secondly, in terms of detection distance, if we use an ordinary forehead thermometer, the 3-5 seconds needed to detect a person and the contact of the detector and the person under test will increase the risk of cross-infection. The thermal imaging device is a non-contact, non-intrusive, non-stop temperature measurement mode. The measured personnel does not need to stay, stand, or take any action to complete the temperature detection. At the same time, the staff stay away from the tested population and effectively avoid cross-infection.


Thirdly, in terms of internal algorithm, the infrared thermal imager is equipped with a high-sensitivity infrared detector and with a precise AI algorithm. According to the internal algorithm, the body temperature can be calculated by using the measured body surface temperature, which is convenient for the staff to conduct a targeted search.


Fourth: in terms of the alarm of detection results, the infrared thermal imager can set the temperature measurement range. If there is an abnormal temperature phenomenon, there will be a picture prompt in the background, and the equipment will also send out beeps or voice alarm sounds, so as to facilitate the staff to find and check the abnormal temperature personnel immediately.
