The railway system is a huge and complex transportation system, which attaches great importance to reliability and safety. IR thermal imager can perform predictive protection of various equipment in railway systems to ensure safe operation. The main use points of IR thermal imagers in railway operations can be divided into: power supply system detection, vehicle detection, and pass number system detection.


1. IR thermal imager detection of power supply system

(1) Transformer detection


The transformer box will heat up due to oil pipeline blockage, eddy current consumption, internal abnormality, and poor insulation of the iron core. The detection of the transformer box by the IR thermal imager can keep the transformer box at a normal temperature, so as to prevent the transformer from being damaged due to too high temperature.


(2) Power supply quality inspection


Overload means that the load is too large, which exceeds the rated load of the equipment itself. The phenomenon is that the current is too large, the electrical equipment heats up, and the overload of the line for a long time will reduce the insulation level of the line, and even burn the equipment or line.


(3) Three-phase unbalance


It means that the amplitude of the three-phase current (or voltage) in the power system is inconsistent, and the amplitude difference exceeds the specified range. Circulating current (and overheating) in the transformer can reduce the efficiency of the motor.


2. IR thermal imager detection of vehicle systems


(1) Electric locomotive detection


There are a large number of electric leather strength test mechanical equipment inside the electric locomotive, which will generate a lot of heat during operation. At the same time, due to loose connectors, equipment problems and other reasons, the locomotive will fail, and even serious accidents will occur. IR thermal imagers can conduct patrol inspections in the parking space of locomotives, and timely find hidden equipment hazards inside the locomotives to avoid accidents. The components inside the electric locomotive that are detected by the IR thermal imager mainly include: main transformer, voltage regulating switch, converter device, traction motor, electronic control cabinet, braking resistance cabinet, etc.


(2) Shaft detection of wheel small carton compression test


At present, as the speed of the vehicle increases, the problem of the temperature rise of the axle becomes more and more important. This requires strengthening the monitoring of the temperature rise of the axle. When the temperature of the axle is 40°C higher than the ambient temperature, it must be replaced immediately, otherwise it will damage the bearing strength and the performance of the brake pads, resulting in an accident. Therefore, when the train enters the station, the axle needs to be inspected. High conditions need to be recorded and marked (the position of the axle with the highest temperature also needs to be recorded).


When the axle of the train is improperly installed and overloaded, the friction with the bearing bush will generate a lot of heat. In severe cases, the axles of all the electronic horizontal tensile testers of the car will heat up and turn red, and finally the axles will break, resulting in a rollover accident. The IR thermal imager can detect the overheated axles in time through non-contact measurement, so as to avoid driving accidents caused by the high temperature of the axles.


3. IR thermal imager detection of CRSC machine room


The computer room with the heavy burden of information processing and exchange is the data transmission center, data processing center and data exchange center of all information network projects.
